MS LYNETTE BADENHORST | CA (SA), M.Com Tax (Domestic & International)

Lynette Badenhorst graduated in 1985 from the University of the Free State, with a BComt Honours degree and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1993. She has been a member of IRBA as a registered auditor (RA) since 1993, is a member of SAICA as a CA (SA). After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant Lynette also obtained: - An advanced Certificate in Tax; - Masters Degree in Domestic Tax; - A Certificate in Forensic and Investigative Auditing; and - A Masters Degree in International Tax. In 1997 Lynette joined a training firm called PROS Training and was the Training Manager until it merged with BETA Training in 2003. Lynette was the financial director and a shareholder of the merged company, ProBeta Accountancy Development (Pty) Ltd until the end of 2012, when the company restructured into 3 different companies, one of which was ProBeta Training (Pty) Ltd. Lynette is currently the Managing Director and a shareholder of ProBeta Training (Pty) Ltd. Lynette has lectured auditing and taxation at various institutions including the North West University, Damelin College, Vista University as well as annual auditing update courses to various Institutes e.g. Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants, Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants, Lesotho Institute of Chartered Accountants, Financial Reporting Standards Council (Mauritius) and the Swaziland Institute of Chartered Accountants. Lynette also presented the following courses to Fasset members: Compliance with changes in Legislation (2009,2010,2012,2013), Companies Act of 2008 (2011), Budget and tax update (2012, 2014). During her career she has trained hundreds of trainees, managers and partners throughout South Africa on the Probe MMX audit methodology as well as various other topics including taxation and ethics.

MR RIAAN STRYDOM

Riaan left the Vaal Triangle Technicon at the end of 1994, after which he joined Nokia South Africa as a technician. After only two years he was promoted to Technical Manager overseeing the workshop and 70 technicians. In 2002, he ventured out on his own, running a small construction company. Very soon he was overseeing several teams and his focus had to shift to project managing his teams and the ongoing projects. He learned that keeping the balls in the air was what he really enjoyed about being in busness for himself. When ProBeta Trainining launched the ProBeta South African Roadtrip, Riaan was the obvious choice to join Lynette to keep tabs on training dates, client visits and keeping the wheels of the Roadtrip rolling. In addition to product managing the Roadtrip, Riaan also keeps tabs on the marketing and running of the Randburg Conference Centre.

MS YVONNE VAN ECK

Before starting her own Graphic and Web Design Business in 1997 Yvonne worked as an Human Resources Manager at Nestle until February 1990, after which she took time out to travel for two years. Upon her return she was employed as an Office/Human Resources Manager at Digital Networking Systems, where she also gained experience in Software and Network Support as well as various design projects. She has been working for ProBeta on a Freelance basis since 2002 covering all aspects of marketing, electronic communications and design projects. She has been responsible for the Annual Tax Guide and Accountants' Deadline Calendar Projects for over 10 years.

Nerissa started her studies in 1995, graduating as a Microsoft System Engineer and an A+ Technician from Training Connection. She went to work in the IT Industry, as a soft skills trainer for school leavers. Nerissa left the IT industry and worked for the Forestry SETA, (FIETA), affiliated with SAPPI,MONDI and Forestry SA. She continued her studies through FIETA as a Labour Relations (Working and being trained by Cosatu, Nufasa, and DWAF) and HR coordinator and appointed in the HR Field. Nerissa Joined ProBeta in 2008, as the course coordinator.

Connie obtained her Computer Literacy certificate at Alex Sankopano Educational Trust, and obtained her Call Centre certificate at HR Cornerstone in 2006. After completing her studies she worked as a Basic Computer Trainer for the same company she was studying with. Then she joined ProBeta in 2007 as Pre and Post Course Administrator.

MS YVONNE ROSSOUW | B.Com Honours(SA), CA (SA)

Yvonne Rossouw is a CA(SA) with a passion for doing the right thing. With ten years of experience in the auditing and accounting profession, Yvonne applies the knowledge she has obtained towards uplifting and training others. Yvonne started her professional career as an academic clerk at the University of Pretoria, where she was an assistant lecturer to the CTA students. This is where she developed her enthusiasm for teaching and developing others. She completed her articles at BDO South Africa Inc and pursued her dream of training those in the auditing and accounting profession. Yvonne joined ProBeta team in 2015 as a public speaker and consultant, facilitating auditing and legislative courses to a range of different audiences. When she is not presenting, Yvonne consults clients on auditing and accounting matters, as well as compliance with legislation such as FICA and POPI. Yvonne also volunteers on various committees and working groups within IRBA and SAICA to provide input and guidance in the development of the auditing and accounting profession.

MR TRISTAN DAVID-CREWE WHITE | BCom Accounting Sciences (Hons) (CTA), CA (SA)

Tristan is passionate about people and people empowerment through teaching. He completed his BCom Accounting Sciences degree at the University of Pretoria in 2012 and Honours with the Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA) a year later in 2013, also at the University of Pretoria. He has 3 years training experience (2014 to 2016) in external audit through the SAICA Articles training program with PwC Menlyn in Pretoria. During his SAICA articles, the first board exam namely the "Initial Test of Competence (ITC)" was successfully passed in 2014. Later, in 2016, the second of two SAICA board exams, the "Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)" was also successfully attempted. Tristan qualified as a Chartered Accountant at the end of 2016 and thereafter, in 2017, took a gap year of sorts, traveling abroad. Tristan joined the SAICA membership in 2018 and was conferred with the designation Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or CA (SA). Tristan has facilitated and led vacation work programs at PwC Pretoria as well as PwC Sunninghill during articles, as well as engaged with Matriculants during PwC-hosted Matric Workshops for students interested in the accounting profession. Tristan has an avid interest in Mathematics and has been involved in part time tutoring since August 2017 with the aspiration to develop and introduce a high school-level Mathematics Course as part of the ProBeta Training portfolio of training from 2018. Aside from this, Tristan has been involved in youth work from 2010 to 2017 at Sinoville Methodist Church, Pretoria and was the former Manager of a football team in the One Way Christian Soccer League from 2015 to 2017, also in Pretoria.

Lynette Berger graduated in 2000 from UNISA, with a BCompt Honours degree, completed her articles with KPMG Inc. in 2003 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 2005. She is a registered member of SAICA and an Accredited SAICA and ETDP Assessor. Lynette obtained her MCom degree during 2015 in South African and International Taxation at North-West University (Potchefstroom). Her mini-dissertation was based on the Income Tax implications of Bitcoin exchange transactions. Lynette is also a registered Fasset accredited facilitator with ProBeta Training which is an accredited Fasset Service Provider. Lynette has a great aspiration to coach, teach and act as mentor for the young workforce. She appreciates their energy and curiosity about their career development and has a passion to contribute towards their growth and development. She is also an accredited Tall Trees Facilitator, under the leadership of Hettie Brittz and Annatjie van Zyl - Founders of Tall Trees Profiles. Together with Hettie Brittz and Annatjie van Zyl, Lynette is the co-author and co-developer of the EI Activator tool which is a unique one-of-its kind emotional intelligence tool developed on the Tall Trees temperament and leadership philosophy. Lynette is also now Director and co-owner of EI Activator (Pty) Ltd, which does not only host this tool, but hosting membership opportunities for people of all walks of life to grow and maximise their EI DNA genes. Lynette is also owner and founder of YourEmpoweredPotential, which is focussed on people-centric, values driven, servant Leadership. She also hosts her own podcast, Stability through Good values. Lynette is also a JohnMaxwell Team Independent Executive Director, speaker, trainer and coach. Lynette serves under the leadership and mentorship of Dr John C. Maxwell, Paul Martinelli (President of the JohnMaxwellTeam), Roddy Galbraith (Speaker lane) and Marc Cole (Leadership lane). Lynette is also an accredited John Maxwell DISC Trainer and Consultant in people skills and behavioural skills. Lynette is also Vice Chairperson of the Vaal District of SAICA and committee member of the SAICA Northern Region Council. Lynette brings along vast knowledge and experience from her role as Senior Manager: Finance at National Petroleum Refiners of South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Natref, jointly owned by Total South Africa (Pty) Ltd. and Sasol Oil (Pty) Ltd.). She fulfilled this role for five years which included maintaining sound internal control systems, SOX 404 compliance, compliance to legislation requirements, quarterly group reporting, management of budgets and forecasts, risk management, managing and reporting on capital projects, financing activities and managing current assets. Lynette was also involved in the training, coaching and mentoring for CA trainee accountants within the Sasol CA Training Program. During December 2013 Lynette completed the Sasol Management of Managers Program hosted by the USB Executive Development Ltd, University of Stellenbosch Business School. She obtained the Directors award for best student - 2013. The program focused on values driven leadership, strategic thinking, systematic thinking, emotional intelligence, high performance teams, amongst others. Lynette conducted in-house training programs within her area of responsibility which involved VAT refreshers, budget and budget control (with the specific focus on complying with the IFRS requirements on the correct classification of capital and operating expenditure), simplifying the implementation of the latest developments to IFRS statements, facilitating soft-issues for example high performance teams, performance management and assisting and coaching line managers regarding leadership styles. Prior to her role at Natref, Lynette joined an internationally based company in the steel industry: Multiserve South Africa (Pty) Ltd, as Group Financial Accountant for four years. A few highlights of her career at Multiserve included an invitation to attend a strategic conference in Dubai together with delegates from the London based head-office as well as delegates from regions around the world in 2005. Another highlight was the successful implementation of IFRIC4 for local contracts.

PROF. JACKIE ARENDSE | B Acc (Wits), HDip Tax Law (Wits), M Comm (Tax) (KZN), CA (SA)

After completing her training at Deloitte, Jackie worked for a top-100 listed company and then moved to academia at Wits University where she lectured, researched and wrote books and articles on all aspects of tax for more than 12 years. In 2004, she was appointed Project Director: Tax at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), where her main responsibilities included managing relationships with key stakeholders (especially SARS and National Treasury), enhancing SAICA members' tax competence and representing SAICA in discussions with Government on tax legislation. After a stint in private practice specialising in tax training and consulting Jackie was appointed as Head of the School of Accountancy at Wits University in May 2009 and she remained in this post until 2013 when she stepped down to focus more on her tax specialization. She remains on a part-time post at Wits as a Visiting Associate Professor teaching post-graduate students. She also consults and is a sought-after presenter of tax seminars around the country. Jackie has authored numerous articles and publications in the field of taxation and has served as an advisor to various professional bodies. She has Chaired and served on numerous committees of the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT) and the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Jackie is married to Mark, also a Chartered Accountant and they have two adult sons.

MS CARMEN WESTERMEYER (WORTMANN) | CA (SA)

Carmen Westermeyer (Wortmann) began her studies in 1998 with a BCom(Acc) and BCommHons(Acc) from the University of Natal(Durban). She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 and stayed on as Assistant Manager with PwC for a year. Deciding that auditing was not for her, she moved into Commerce. In 2008 she joined UKZN where she taught Tax, taking on the role of Academic Leader: Taxation in 2011. She left the University at the end of 2013 to provide training to practitioners on a full time basis, as well as providing tax consulting services. She is an Associate with Maitland & Associates.

Bianca Filmalter is a dynamic facilitator and trainer with a passion for people empowerment and development. Besides facilitating training, she is the Managing Director of Raising the Standards Solutions, a company that helps business owners and entrepreneurs achieve competitive advantage through strategy development, business process mapping, project coordination and training. Bianca is also the CEO of the Association for Office Professionals South Africa (OPSA), a Professional Body with more than 8,000 members that promotes and develops performance standards for administrators in South Africa. Prior to this, Bianca developed the strategy and headed up the CSIR's HR Wellness Office and operated in various other management and support roles. Bianca has a BA Honours degree in Psychology, a BA degree in Social Sciences majoring in Psychological Counselling, and is a registered assessor with Services SETA. During her career, Bianca has received various accolades, including CSIR Executive Service Excellence Award and the national title of South Africa's Personal Assistance of the Year in 2006. She has published several articles and presented at a number of international conferences. Bianca understands the importance of practical, hands-on training and creating meaningful and relevant interaction to ensure learning translates from the training room to the work environment. You can expect to be challenged, motivated and encouraged to think differently after one of Bianca's sessions. She is skilled in guiding people in sales, leadership, negotiation, presenting, personal effectiveness as well as training senior leaders to improve team effectiveness.

MS ANDRI CORREIA | CA (SA)

Facilitator - Soft Skills Andri is a Chartered Accountant and a Registered Auditor. She is a member of the Training Requirements Committee (SAICA) and the Chairman of the Regulations Sub-committee (SAICA). Andri has achieved her Certificate in Education, Training and Development with the University of Johannesburg and is a registered Assessor and Moderator. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (SA) with one of the big four firms, she worked as an audit manager in a medium sized audit practice where she was also involved in the developing and presentation of training programs. She then moved on to become the Training Manager in a BEE audit practice where, in addition to further audit experience, she was responsible for training the Johannesburg and Cape Town offices. Her main focus was compiling training material and facilitating training programs for the trainees. She also performed training officer duties and assisted in the TOPP program. Thereafter she joined ProBeta as the Professional Training Manager and was responsible for developing, training and consulting to all of ProBetas clients. Andri was responsible for quality within ProBeta and for developing course material. She then moved to a medium -size firm where she performed the training office ,employment and quality control functions for this firm. Her area of expertise is the SAICA training contract realm and its related products She is currently at PKF Octagon where she performs training office duties and is responsible for running the training department for the Johannesburg office. She trains for Probeta part time.
