Overview:

SAICA vereis dat klerke sowel as firmas voldoen aan hul opleidings regulasies. Deel daarvan is om gereeld assessering te ondergaan as bewys dat die klerke die nodige ervaring opdoen. Indien die assessering verkeerd gedokumenteer word, kan klerke negatief beinvloed word. Die PBAT sisteem laat firmas toe om die assessering elektronies te voltooi en by te hou. Dit is egter nodig dat alle klerke, seniors, bestuurders en vennote bewus is van hoe die sisteem werk en hoe om die assesserings korrek te dokumenteer.

Overview:

SAICA issues regulations each year that are applicable to all training offices and clerks. As part of these regulations, regular assessments must be performed as proof of the competencies gained by trainees. If these assessments are docuemnted incorrectly, it can have a negative impact on trainees. The PBAT tool allows firms to electronically perform and document these necessary assessments. Therefore it is necessary for all who forms part of the assessment process to understand the tool and how to use it. Ensuring that the assessment process is completed timeously and correctly.

SAICA training contracts are both - an exciting opportunity for new recruits who are seeking to gain CA / AGA accreditation, as well as, - a MAJOR administrative burden if trainees are not well-informed as to their rights and responsibilities under the training contract / regulations The objective of this session is to journey with trainees through the latest SAICA Training Regulations and highlight the important sections applicable to them. Furthermore, this session covers the regulatory bodies such as SAICA and IRBA, and what the differences are between the two.


Course Content:

Structuring of the accounting profession - The need to develop the correct professional attitude towards traineeship - The different roles of SAICA and the IRBA - The SAICA training contract - SAICA Training Regulations - SAICAs philosophy of training and how it assists with the holistic development of the trainee accountant - The important influence a training officer can have on the trainee accountant�s professional development - The responsibilities of the training officers - Trainees� personal responsibilities with regard to their own skills development and assessment (planning, rotation, opportunities, communication)


Course Objective:

The purpose of this training session is to: � Introduce trainees to the accounting profession, � Explore who the professional body-role players are, i.e. SAICA and IRBA, � Highlight the key areas dealt with in the SAICA training regulations, i.e. penalties applicable if trainee wants to change offices; consequences of trainee not completing TSRs and PSRS on time, � Identify rights and responsibilities of trainees, per the SAICA training regulations � Point trainees to the various resources offered by SAICA i.e. a list of competencies and core hours required; annexures dealing with for e.g. Appeals against assessment decisions

At the end of a 3-4-or-5 year SAICA training contract, a trainee will need to produce a portfolio of evidence, showcasing their competence in areas of: Accounting Auditing Taxation Financial management Management decision-making Risk & governance, and Ethics & professionalism In practice, this presents a major challenge for both trainees and training offices, as trainees are to be the main drivers of their own development, and they often don�t understand what that entails� Join ProBeta Training as we tackle this challenge head on, by getting your trainees work-place ready by helping them understand what the SAICA assessment process is all about, how they are rated, and what their role is, in the process of assessment. As part of this training session, trainees will be guided by the presenter, as to how this evidence is collected, documented (TSR, PSR), rated and assessed (ANA) as part of the SAICA Assessment Process. Furthermore, mock scenarios will be presented to trainees whereby they will practice using the decision tree in providing ratings.

This session aims to explain how to conduct yourself, as a new professional, in a corporate environment.

The objectives of this session is to familiarise first year trainee accountants with their new working environment.
