Session 1: Introduction to Profession and SAICA Training Regulations (2 Hours) The objective of this session is to introduce the accounting profession to trainees and navigate trainees through the latest SAICA Training Regulations and highlight the important sections applicable to them that could have an impact on their training contract journey. This session tackles what the duties of a trainee are in relation to their training contract. Furthermore, as part of introducing trainees to the profession, this session covers the regulatory bodies such as SAICA and IRBA, and what the differences are between the two, and what is needed to qualify as a CA / AGA (SA). Covered content: - The need to develop the correct professional attitude towards traineeship - The different roles of SAICA and the IRBA - Applicable SAICA Training Regulations - A trainee’s duties per Annexures - The SAICA Training Contract Session 2: Assessment Process and Tutorial on How to Complete Assessment Instruments [LOR and PDS] (4 Hours) Help trainees understand what the SAICA Assessment Process is all about, how to gather and document evidence, how they are reviewed / evaluated / assessed, and what their role is, in the process of assessment. Content covered: - Understanding the CA2025 training programme - Assessment definition and principles of assessment - Benefits and steps in the process - Assessment instruments and processes, and steps to complete - Individuals and paperwork involved in the process - Prescribed / possible Learning Outcomes (technical and PVAAs) - Explanations of the proficiency-ratings process for which trainees must self-assess using decision trees for LOR / PDS - Practical walkthrough of documentation of evidence process
