At the end of a 3-4-or-5 year SAICA training contract, a trainee will need to produce a portfolio of evidence through the technical experience obtained, showcasing their ability to achieve learning outcomes in the following categories of Professional Values and Attitudes and Acumens PVAAs: • Ethics – Values and Attitudes • Citizenship – Values and Attitudes • Lifelong Learning – Values and Attitudes • Business Acumen • Decision-making Acumen • Relational Acumen • Digital Acumen Competence is required to be proven, meaning trainees must document what they’ve done to facilitate review (in the Learning Outcome Review LOR document) and further evaluation and assessment (in the Professional Development Summary PDS document). In practice, this can easily present a challenge for both trainees and training offices, as trainees are to be the main drivers of their own development, and they often don’t understand what it entails… That said, ProBeta Training is here to help training offices tackle this challenge head on, by getting your trainees work-place ready by helping them understand what the SAICA Assessment Process is all about, how to practically document evidence, how they are reviewed / evaluated / assessed, and what their role is, in the process of assessment. As part of this training session, trainees will be guided by the presenter, as to how this evidence is collected, documented, rated (where applicable in the LOR) and evaluated and assessed (PDS) as part of the SAICA Assessment Process. A practical demonstration of how to complete a LOR and PDS with real evidence will be presented to assist trainees in using the LOR and PDS decision trees in providing ratings.

• Introduce trainees to the assessment process • Establish what the various assessment instruments and deadlines are i.e. LOR and PDS documents • Highlight what learning outcomes they will be assessed on, for which they need to document evidence • Point out the various assessment guides i.e. decision trees, SAICA’s Electronic Assessment Tool, trainee’s unique Training Plan / Integrated Exposure Plan IEP, Expected Levels of Proficiency ELP • Practice providing ratings in mock scenarios / practice critiquing evidence that doesn’t meet SAICAs quality guidelines
