One of the conundrums of ethical decision making is that many moral decisions that are quite straightforward – even easy – to resolve in a classroom or during training exercises seem far more difficult to successfully resolve when confronted during actual day-to-day decision making. Professionals are often faced with situations that require sound ethical decision-making ability. Determining the appropriate course to take when faced with a difficult ethical dilemma can be a challenge. In this webinar we will discuss the decision-making process that is required when dealing with an ethical decision. We will discuss current research in this regard and we will look at some practical tools available to approach dilemmas. This webinar is part of a series of ethics webinars providing insights into the concept of Ethical leadership and aims to equip professionals with tools to enhance their moral awareness.

Enhance ethics competence of professionals through various methods such as dialogue, stimulation of moral awareness through discussion of current research performed in this arena.

During this webinar we will discuss the following: - Ethical decision-making process defined - Is moral judgement cognitive? - Kohlberg’s cognitive developmental approach - Is morality a matter of the heart or the head? - James Rest’s model o Moral sensitivity o Moral judgement o Moral intent o Moral action/ courage - Moral intensity
