SAICA training contracts present an outstanding opportunity for training offices to nurture responsible leaders of the future.

Training officers take the lead in administering SAICA’s training programme at respective firms, and therefore, it is imperative that training officers are well-informed as to

• The training office’s rights and responsibilities in relation to training contracts issued,
• Remaining compliant with SAICA’s Training Regulations, and
• Continually satisfying SAICA’s Accreditation Criteria in Annexure 2 to the Training Regulations.

The objective of this session is to journey with training officers through the latest SAICA Training Regulations and Accreditation Criteria highlighting the important sections applicable to them, and briefly demonstrating relevant aspects of the Electronic Assessment Tool (EAT).

• Introduce training officers to the hierarchy of responsibility in terms of the SAICA training programme

• Highlight the key areas dealt with in the SAICA Training Regulations that require training officer involvement, for example,
o Dispute resolution,
o Possible sanctions that apply to non-compliant trainees,
o When training officers can / can’t make recommendations, e.g., when core hours are not achieved
• Identify rights and responsibilities (duties) of training officers, per the SAICA Training Regulations Annexure 3

• Help a training officer understand how to remain accredited as a training office by working through Annexure 2 – Accreditation Criteria

• Point training officers to the various resources offered by SAICA i.e., a list of competencies and core hours required; annexures dealing with for e.g., Appeals

• Briefly discuss SAICA’s Training Contract Management System (TCMS) and how it links to SAICA’s Electronic Assessment Tool

• Demonstrate relevant aspects of SAICA’s Electronic Assessment Tool, e.g. how to add trainees and other role players, and how to import training plans

Key SAICA Training Regulations related to a training office and training officer, and training contract

• A training officer’s duties per Annexures
