This practical course explains the process of reporting a deceased estate to the Master of the High Court. Participants will learn how to prepare and submit the required documentation, avoid common application errors, and obtain Letters of Executorship or Letters of Authority efficiently to ensure smooth estate administration.

The administration of a deceased estate begins with correctly reporting the estate to the Master of the High Court. Whether the deceased died testate (with a valid Will) or intestate (without a valid Will), the reporting process is a critical step that determines how quickly the estate administration can proceed. This practical course provides step-by-step guidance on the documentation, forms, and procedures required to report an estate and obtain the necessary authority to act. Participants will learn how to complete reporting documentation accurately, understand the differences between larger estates and Section 18(3) estates, and avoid common mistakes that result in delays. The course also includes practical guidance on the use of key templates and supporting documentation required by the Master's Office.
