Marlene is Chartered Accountant and professional trainer in the Learning and Development unit at Altimax. Marlene facilitates on a regular basis for both private and public sector and her core focus areas include International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SMEs), Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP), supply chain management (SCM) in public sector, Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations. She was the lead facilitator on the on the IFRS for SMEs back to basic seminars for the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2017.
After completing her articles at EY, Marlene joined Altimax as a financial reporting consultant assisting entities that use GRAP as their accounting framework to prepare their financial statements. She has been actively involved in industry specific solutions and advice for listed entities, public entities and municipalities. From there her training career developed and nowadays her practical experience enables her to provide customised training focusing on interpretation and application of standards, exposure drafts and discussion papers.
Marlene keeps her practical experience in tact by continuously consulting on specialised areas to clients, reviewing annual financial statements for compliance and by providing client specific technical opinions. She is an active member of the Accounting Standards Board of South Africas Public Sector Forum. Her ability to combine topics across disciplines, reforms and regulations within the sector provides for a unique training experience.
