Team norms, belonging and the courage to think for yourself
One of the strongest influences on behaviour is often neither policy nor training.
It is the answer to: “What do people around here actually do?”
Young trainees learn quickly from team norms. Sometimes those norms are excellent. Sometimes they quietly communicate that certain shortcuts, communication styles or compromises are acceptable.
A real developmental issue: Maintaining ethical agency while belonging to a group.

Very strong fit with business ethics. Trainees are expected to evaluate how ethics operates in the environment and whether values, policies and codes are actually practised and enforced.
They are also explicitly expected to recognise their own positive or negative contribution to ethical culture.
