To successfully assess a trainee in terms of their proficiency as a prospective CA (SA) or AGA (SA) under the CA of the Future (formerly CA2025) Competency Framework, there are 5 key role players that will have a part to play in a trainee’s professional development.
Trainees are to prepare formative assessment forms called LORs (weekly / monthly / two-monthly) and will need to know how:
A SAICA Reviewer plays a key role in on-the-job feedback as they usually provide live oversight to a trainee whilst the trainee carries out their daily work assignments, on which they are later rated.
An Evaluator / Assessor is less directly involved in a trainee’s day to day work activity but plays a mentorship role and is fundamentally concerned with a trainee’s longer-term development towards final proficiency levels. Evaluators / Assessors offer summative assessment feedback in the Professional Development Summary (PDS) document.
The purpose of this training session is to help establish where you, as Trainee, Reviewer, Evaluator or Assessor, fit in, in the CA of the Future Assessment Process in the context of needing to assess trainees on their proficiency towards becoming CAs and AGAs (SA).
This session will practically demonstrate how to document evidence in an LOR and how to give appropriate feedback in an LOR and PDS document respectively on the Electronic Assessment Tool (EAT) online platform.
The following will be covered in the session which focuses on the Trainee and Reviewer’s roles in the assessment process of a Trainee:
