The SAICA Training Regulations set out the rules that govern a Training Officer and Trainee’s conduct, powers, duties and responsibilities in the context of a 3, 4 or 5 year training contract. SAICA require that all role-players be informed as to the latest SAICA Training Regulations which are updated annually. The 2026 regulations bring with it several changes to the Regulations themselves, the Annexures and changes that affect the Assessment Process.

This session will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the SAICA Training Regulations and latest amendments made for 2026.

SAICA Assessment Process – Reviewer:

To successfully assess a trainee in terms of their proficiency as a prospective CA (SA) or AGA (SA) under the CA of the Future (formerly CA2025) Competency Framework, there are 5 key role players that will have a part to play in a trainee’s professional development.

A SAICA Reviewer plays a key role in on-the-job feedback as they usually provide live oversight to a trainee whilst the trainee carries out their daily work assignments, on which they are later rated.

This second session will practically walk Reviewers through the completion of a Learning Outcome Review (LOR) on the Electronic Assessment Tool, guiding Reviewers on how to confidently give ratings using decision trees.

Teach your SAICA Training Office about the SAICA Training Regulations and highlighting and explaining the 2026 amendments.

Secondly, to help establish where you, as Reviewer, fit in, in the CA of the Future Assessment Process in the context of needing to assess trainees on their proficiency towards becoming CAs and AGAs (SA). This second session will practically demonstrate how to accept / reject / rate evidence in an LOR on the Electronic Assessment Tool (EAT) online platform.
